Himalayan Institute of Hospital Trust is an existing University campus on a 195 acre site in Dehradun, adjoining the Jolly Grant airport. The University is expanding and a number of buildings are designed such as Engineering College campus, Nurses Hostel, Student Activity Center & VC residence.
Nursing Hostels: 135,000 sf
Staff Residential: 85,000 sf
Student Activity Center & Sports: 23,000 sf
Nurses Hostel for Men and Women working nurses have double occupancy rooms with attached kitchenette and balconies. Common toilets and laundry is shared for every 8 rooms. The building has been designed such that the balconies on every floor is staggered, thus creating and interesting play of shade and shadow. The entrance is a double height space with an open balcony overlooking it. The women's hostel has a central courtyard providing light to the corridors and the rooms on the inside. It also acts as the interactive space amongst the residents of the hostel. The Men's hostel, considerably smaller in size has single-run stairs in the center thus providing the much need interactive space.
A Student Activity Center is located in-between the residential and the academic zone.. It has facilities such as cafeteria, gymnasium, shops, laundry etc. The building is designed such that it facilitates and maximizes interaction amongst students and peers alike. The sport facilities include both outdoor and indoor sports.
